Web 2.0 might also be called the Read/Write Web. It is a departure from the original "read only" web where we searched for content. It is a web where creating content is almost as easy as consuming it and where we can easily connect to people, ideas and conversations. Anyone can access Web 2.0 applications at any time from any computer. Examples of these applications are blogs, podcasts, wikis. Educators are using these applications to share innovative ways to employ these new technologies. A great example is of a blog being contributed to by educators is Edublog. Educators are also using these to challenge their students' reading/writing/thinking/communication skills. A great example of this is Wikispaces.com where the Eastchester Middle/High School Wiki is located.
